Size-specific thickness The 140 mm and 160 mm discs, which are more commonly used in lightweight construction, are 1.88 mm thick. This corresponds to the usual standard.
The more gravity-oriented discs with 180 and 203 mm diameter are 2.05* mm thick. This is around 10 percent more than usual and significantly improves mechanical and thermal stability. The annoying ringing that occurs with many discs practically no longer occurs, heat distortion is significantly reduced.
The new hole pattern A hardly visible, but well thought-out change to the hole pattern improves floor covering cleaning and thus minimises the risk of scraping noises.
Steel option The new discs are also made of a stronger steel than is normally used, but have a hardening adapted to the application and are now quieter than before. So, the new discs are real high-performance brake discs - which play their advantages in gravity disciplines and also work for touring and transalpine riders with luggage. Occasional concerns expressed as to whether the thicker discs would fit into the lining gap at all are unfounded. Due to the automatic lining adjustment, the position of the pistons always adjusts automatically to the thickness of the disc, just as it compensates for thinning linings in the event of lining wear.
