Over the years, NS Bikes has tested many e-bikes, but there was never a bike that really captured the heart of their team. It took them a while to figure out what kind of bike they wanted to make for NS.

They asked themselves what makes a good e-bike. Putting the motor aside, it comes down to the geometry and suspension of the bike, and those are the main things we focused on. NS Bikes have been looking for geometry that works best on a motor-assisted bike - and that's not necessarily the same as their "analog" products. The geometry needs to be complemented by suspension that works perfectly on a bike that is inherently heavier than a normal MTB, and the tires, brakes and cockpit all need to have more of a "moto" feel.

Back to the motor, there are no "bad" drivetrains on the market today. What NS consider critical to their customers is reliability and easily accessible service if something goes wrong. That's why they chose the Shimano drivetrain. They believe they have similar values to NS and excellent customer service around the world.

Although it has been on the market for a while, they really like Shimano's e7000 motor. They are not alone in this opinion. In the words of e-mountain bike magazine, "We were immediately impressed by the natural feel of the shimano steps E7000!". Shimano's "small" drive unobtrusively delivers power, but still provides the support you need from a standing start, on climbs and when cruising just below the 25 km/h limit. In direct comparison with its big brother, the Shimano Steps E7000 feels more natural. It's also quieter and easier to modulate, especially in boost mode."

One of the most important things that struck NS Bikes is that the NS crew isn't into floppy rides. So they made sure the E-Fine is a big, powerful machine. It's equipped with the excellent Sram 35 Gold RL fork, a coil shock and aggressive tires. To make sure everyone feels comfortable on the E-Fine, they also included an option to adjust the height of the bike to personal preference.

So have they managed to build an e-bike that all the guys on their team would love? Well, even the most die-hard dirt jumpers in the company are lining up to borrow a prototype for a weekend of shredding - something they haven't experienced with other e-bikes lying around the office. Team riders love the E-Fine, and close friends who would never have considered an e-bike are changing their minds. Honestly, NS Bikes believes they have achieved their goal.
